OPERATIONAL TIMELINE

All of the programs and services you’ve just reviewed - and some not listed - have been laid out in the form of an “Operational Timeline ”.

This format underscores the importance of dividing these initiatives into two parts: “PRE-incident” and “POST-incident”. This TIMETABLE, available online and in print as part of our OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE ENROLLMENT KIT 2009, is ideal for departments wishing to implement ODCR’s full range of programming.

YOUR DEPARTMENT'S ENROLLMENT

On January 1, 2009, OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE replaced the organization's Line of Duty Death Benefit. This change reflects the position of our Advisory Council that a more effective way of supporting families and officers in crisis was to work through the local agency.

Departments previously enrolled in this benefit were automatically registered for “OFFICER-DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE”.

If you are not sure if your department is enrolled, please email us at PoliceUSA@gmail.com.

If you would like to receive our OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE ENROLLMENT KIT 2009, download the form here.

Whatever the case, we appreciate any assistance you can provide in helping us get these often sensitive materials to those who can benefit from them.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU
We are confident you will find merit in the programs and services offered through “OFFICER-DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE.”

Certainly, all this would have been impossible without the extraordinary talents of those law enforcement veterans, police chaplains and survivors who generously contributed to this nationwide initiative.

Some of these kind souls are listed below. Should you get the chance, I hope you will join our organization in thanking them for their contribution.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO:

FINAL THOUGHTS

"Officer-Down!"

“These are the most dreaded words in law enforcement. Like distant gunfire, these words reverberate across the entire community — devastating families, and traumatizing police departments and officers alike.

Chaplain David Fair“Responding to a line-of-duty death is not a skill they teach in the academy. Nonetheless, in the unfortunate event that a critical incident does occur, police administrators will most assuredly be put to the test.

“While the primary goal of “OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE” is to assist departments in meeting the challenges of responding to a line-of-duty death, we believe you’ll find that the process of reviewing and implementing these programs will also improve your department’s ability to better respond to a whole range of other crisis situations.”
